Here it is, the last of the Ontario Craft Brewers 2011 Holiday Discovery Pack. I won’t lie; I was excited to try this beer. The award-winning Black Oak Nut Brown Ale just looks…delicious. Today, we look at the second last bottle of the OCB Holiday Discovery Pack: Trafalgar Ales & Meads Smoked Oatmeal Stout! Poured black, with a thin tan head. Slight aromas of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Fairly carbonated, and tastes as it smells. Was expecting more smokiness as the name suggests but did not notice any.
Holy Hops Batman! Strong citra hop flavours explode out of this tasty IPA from Muskoka Brewery, part of the OCB Holiday Discovery Pack. Mad Tom IPA pours a hazy amber colour, with a creamy white head, with strong aromas of citrus and pine. For those used to light beers it will be quite the experience.

A bit of a twist: I will also have my wife Nicole, a non-beer drinker, discuss her thoughts on the beer. So, with no further delay Continue Reading…
